Trip to Gaylord - April 4 - 6th

In order to let Forest have the house to himself to study for the weekend, Sienna and I headed up to my parents' house. We had a great time. My aunt Gayla came to visit and we talked for hours. We tried to take Sienna for a walk in a stroller. She was ok with it for a short time, but then decided that she wanted to walk for herself. Unfortunately, we were pretty far from home when she decided this - so the trip back home was pretty slow.

The weather was quite nice that weekend - snow was melting fast. We tried to make little snowmen in the driveway. Sienna wasn't too sure what she thought of touching the snow.

My Dad went to the store and bought her some barretts for her hair. This was the first time we've ever put anything in her hair. She doesn't like to hold still for it -but once they are in - they look pretty cute. She actually looks like a little girl!

Other activities included, sitting on the deck "feeding" the squirrels, baking cookies with grandma and creating her first picture for grandma and grandpa (which will stay on their fridge for months to come, I'm sure!).

Kansas - April 2nd

I went to do a training for CogState in Wichitaw, Kansas on April 2nd. This was my first trip to Kansas. It was just a quick trip, down on Tuesday night - back on Weds. Every single person I met was incredibly nice (if not a little crazy in the case of the taxi drivers).

Jonah's Bday party at Urban Toddler

One of Sienna's friends, Jonah (son of a psychologist and psychiatrist, both of whom I work with) had a birthday party at Urban Toddler. It sounds pretty yuppi - and it is, to some extent, but it actually turned out to be a really great party! They even had several kinds of baby food and a huge bowl of cherios set out on the food table for the littlest kids!

I met a lot of interesting people. This seems like a great place to hang out and meet other parents of babies and toddlers. It's far more "civilized" than your average kid play gym (more focused on learning and creativity than just physical exercise). I wish it was closer (it's about 45 minutes from our house).

Sienna was slow to warm up to the environment. She just sat on my lap for the first hour in the baby play area (1st picture below) - but by the end of the party, she was running all over the place with all the other kids.

My Birthday March 24th

Wow, my birthdays have changed in the past couple of years!! Forest and I both took the day off so we could spend some time together as a family. We went shoe shopping for Sienna's very first pair of REAL shoes (oooh aaaahhhh) and then to an indoor playground (which is basically like a McDonald's playground on steroids - see pics). We sat near the back of the total chaos, eating pizza and wondering what had happened to our lives! haha

(If it will load properly) Check out the video of the "baby treadmill" - hilarious!

Later that night, our babysitter showed up at our house (a total surprise to me). Forest had arranged for us to go out for a nice dinner! It was fantastic.

Easter with the Seiler's - March 23rd

Easter with my Mom's side was at Lisa's the year. As always, we had a good time stuffing ourselves silly and visiting with family. Some of the aunts organized an egg hunt for the kids. They arranged for Sienna to have her own room to hunt eggs in that was off limits to the older kids. Thanks to the practice the day before, Sienna was a pro at finding the eggs and even put them in her "basket"! She "won" lots of great candy, which her parents happily ate for her.

March 21-23 at Grandpa Caveney's Cabin

We went up to visit Grandpa Caveney on Good Friday. As always, we ate very well (sharp tail and grouse) the whole time. As has become tradition, we spent part of Saturday boiling down sap to make Maple Syrup. Unfortunately, because this has been a slow/cold spring - there was not much sap to boil. The trees were not running at all that day (the only sap we had to boil was some that Ned had saved for us during the week before we came). Nevertheless, I did get my sweet hot tea and several boiled eggs. It was a good time. Sienna wasn't too sure about the snow (and gave up trying to walk in it after a while). Grandpa colored eggs for Sienna the day before we came to visit, and he hid them around the room for her to find. It took a little while for her to grasp the idea, but she did eventually catch on that she was supposed to be looking for these eggs. At first, she refused to throw them into the basket, but, instead, insisted on throwing them down on the hard wood floor (see vidoes). Luckily they were hard boiled!

Parent Party Night - Feb 16th

Just got these pictures from Mary.

For Sienna's first birthday, we had a private party - just the 3 of us. On the following Saturday, we threw a party for ourselves (and some of our friends who are parents) to celebrate making it a whole year! :)

We had about 16 friends over, including Mary and Gary. Kelsea and Jenn babysat everyone's kids (who wanted to bring them). We had a friend, Arijit, cater Indian food - and then all went out to a movie.

It was a good time.

These pictures are some that the Logan's took of Sienna (the gifts were from them for her 1st birthday).
